Sir John Vane Grant for Best Recent Publication in Pulmonary Vascular Research

A grant of €2,500, the Sir John Vane Award for Best Recent Publication in Pulmonary Vascular Research related to Pulmonary Hypertension seeks to encourage a generation of new and visionary scientists in their quest to understand and make an impact in basic science / research in the field of pulmonary hypertension (PH).

This award will be attributed to the best recent publication on pulmonary vascular research that furthers our scientific understanding of the pharmacology, biology, genetics, or pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension.

Sir_John_Vane The grant is supported by United Therapeutics Europe, Ltd., in memory of Sir John Vane, an extraordinary scientist who, through his enthusiasm and unfailing thirst for knowledge, paved the way for work on aspirin, inflammation and pain and the discovery that aspirin inhibits the biosynthesis of prostaglandin. The research earned him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1982.

Candidate criteria

  • ERS Membership
  • 45 years or under at the time of the application deadline
  • published a paper on Pulmonary Vascular Research related to Pulmonary Hypertension within the last 2 years in a peer-reviewed journal
