ABOUT THE SUMMER SCHOOL

The HERMES examination in adult respiratory medicine is a knowledge based examination originating from the HERMES syllabus in adult respiratory medicine. The examination continues to gain recognition and esteem across European countries, and more and more candidates sign up each year to take the HERMES examination. More information on the examination can be found at hermes.ersnet.org. 

The HERMES Summer School is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of each of the major fields of respiratory medicine based on the HERMES syllabus.This 5 day interactive course, led by a world class faculty, will help participants prepare for the HERMES examination in adult respiratory medicine. It will also give the participant the opportunity to network through the Summer School’s unique evening social programme.

The programme is designed to challenge participants and provide a learning framework including interactive sessions and MCQ discussion sessions. 

This event has been granted 24 European CME credits (ECMEC) by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).

• Respiratory physicians in training
• Respiratory physicians preparing for the HERMES examination
• Respiratory specialists preparing for their national society’s examination
• Internists and other specialists wishing to get an overview of respiratory medicine

SUMMER SCHOOL MODULES

MATERIAL PROVIDED

In order to support the objectives of the Summer School, the following material will be given onsite to participants:

• ERS Handbook of Respiratory Medicine (including an access to the online material)
• The HERMES Adult Respiratory Medicine Syllabus
• An examination blueprint

BY THE END OF THE COURSE ...

Participants will have detailed knowedge of:

• The HERMES syllabus modules
• Best practice in how to prepare for the HERMES examination
• How to answer the MCQ questions

COURSE VENUE

BURSARIES (AVAILABLE TO ERS MEMBERS ONLY)

A limited number of bursaries, covering either full attendance or registration only will be available to selected applicants.  To be eligible to apply you must be:

• Under 40 years of age,
• A member of the ERS
• From countries with economies in transition

Selection from the pool of applicants will be made by the organising committee based on the submission of:

• Curriculum vitae
• A one-page personal statement explaining how you would apply the knowledge gained from this course.

The deadline for applications for bursaries is 17 February 2012. Applicants will be notified of selection results by 17 March 2012.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please note, as many doctors will be on the waiting list we cannot accept any cancellation of participation at the last minute. Therefore, there will be no reimbursement if cancellation occurs within 4 weeks preceding the course. Thank you for your understanding.
